pardon the whining
finals really, really suck. one of the many reasons is this: finals are not just the period immediately preceding finals and the finals themselves. law school finals encompass a period of weeks, if not months, during which every single thought ends with "I really should be studying right now."

where there's smoke, there's burnout
Some way, some how, I have to spend a certain number of hours on this exercise in masochism I'm told is law school. When that certain number of hours is not met because, say, I want to see my girlfriend and friends and maybe cook a nice meal or two, nights get late and mornings get earlier.
I didn't realize that last night was Daylight Savings Time, and I'm still lamenting the loss of that hour. Talk about a need for perspective - I'm fussing over an hour of my life that I spent sleeping curled up against M (or didn't spend at all - DST gets a little metaphysical for my taste) instead of poring over my Con Law.
If I had a time traveling DeLorean, I'd just bop ahead to next week: Spring fuckin Break.

JD to be, suckas!
That's right. I got into my first choice law school, Lewis and Clark. AND they're giving me a monster scholarship. HELL YES!

I have now received confirmation that all of the law schools to which I've applied have complete copies of my applications. Great. Now I just get to sit in my puddle of anxiety (at least I hope that's anxiety) and wait.
For the record, I applied to Lewis and Clark, UW, UO, Berkeley, Temple and Northwestern. Northwestern was very prompt in rejecting me - fully anticipated that, and none too bothered.
Tonight, however, I will dissipate some of this tension with a Blazers game! They're playing the Charlotte Wildcats. Let me just say that I'm pretty well over the whole NBA musical mascots. New Orleans should be the Jazz (Utah?! Come ON), Charlotte should be the Hornets, and Utah can deal with the Wildcats or some other insanely generic mascot. Don't wreck my frame of reference, NBA. Also, I know Seattle's having some hard times, but letting Oklahoma City take the Sonics was just cold. Calling them the Thunder, even colder.
At any rate, I will continue to harbor my illicit straight crushes on LaMarcus Aldridge and Martell Webster. They're adorable, and I'm not apologizing.

briefly: props to Julia Butterfly's heir apparent
Any Ducks or former Ducks know Jasmine Zimmer-Stucky? She's taking to a tree in Salem with the rad and radical enviro group Rising Tide to protest logging and deforestation. Pretty hardcore, considering the biblical amounts of rain we're getting these days. Salem likely won't be hit as hard as Seattle or Portland, but I would still rather not up a tree 24/7 in any amount of Oregon rain. Anyway, props to Jasmine. Go Ducks!

it's done.
The thesis, that is. I defend May 22, at 11:30am. If you're a Eugener and available, ask me where and attend! I'll be dressed nicely for a change and geeking out in front of a live audience.
FINALLY.
FINALLY.

outta here again
Portland-bound. Maybe not the brightest idea, but it's got to happen. All things being equal, I'd like to look at the other Potential Home City.
got a few comments back from the thesis advisor, in other news. "This is MA level work." !!
